Traditional folk arts showcased at Dunhuang scenic area

On Jan 16, a vibrant display of traditional Chinese folk performances lit up the Mingsha Mountain and Crescent Spring Scenic Area during the "Celebrating Our Festival: Spring Joy" cultural event in Dunhuang, Gansu province.

Folk performance troupes from various townships across Dunhuang presented a spectacular showcase of intangible cultural heritage, featuring traditional gong and drum ensembles, dragon dances, lion dances, and yangko folk dances. The centuries-old local traditions, drew large crowds of visitors.

The scenic area, famous for its towering sand dunes and crescent-shaped spring, resonated with the rhythmic beats of drums and the cheerful laughter of spectators throughout the day. This cultural initiative aims to preserve and promote Dunhuang's rich folk traditions while enhancing visitors' experience during the pre-Spring Festival period.
