Behold this stunning group of five female figurines from the High Tang Dynasty (618-907), dressed in splendid male attire and mounted on horses. Each musician plays a different exotic instrument brought from the Western Regions, including the waist drum, konghou (harp), pipa (lute), bili (reed pipe) and cymbal.
These figurines, unearthed from the tomb of the Lady of Jinxiang in Xi'an, reflects the vibrant music culture and cultural exchanges of the era. Collection: Xi'an Museum.
