2 Ningbo companies make CCID Sci-Tech Pre-Unicorn List

Sichain Semiconductors (Ningbo) Co Ltd and Ningbo Senior Automation Co Ltd were recently recognized as Sci-Tech Pre-Unicorns by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology-affiliated CCID Consulting.

This distinction highlights the potential of these companies to become future unicorns, which refer to privately held firms worth over $1 billion and started less than 10 years ago.

Sichain Semiconductors specializes in silicon carbide (SiC) semiconductor devices. The company designs and mass-produces 1,200-vlot SiC diodes and MOSFETs, which are used in electric vehicles, smart grids, and industrial control systems.

Since its start in 2021, the company has raised nearly 1 billion yuan ($136.46 million) from investors like Meituan Dragon Ball, NIO Capital, and GL Ventures. According to Wang Xinyu of Meituan Dragon Ball, Sichain Semiconductors is well-positioned to become a leader in the SiC chip industry from capitalizing on the electric vehicle market's growth.

Senior Automation focuses on unmanned driving technology for logistics. Since 2020, the company has been operating unmanned electric container trucks at Ningbo Daxie International Terminal. In 2024, the company obtained Ningbo's first intelligent connected vehicle road test licenses.

The company completed a multi-billion-yuan series B financing in January 2024 and secured a strategic partnership with Hengfeng Bank Ningbo Branch in December 2024, receiving 200 million yuan in credit support.
