Ningbo to launch first high-speed train direct to Shanghai South Station

On Jan 5, 2025, a new railway timetable will be implemented nationwide, introducing for the first time a high-speed train service from Ningbo to Shanghai South Station.

With the opening of new Shanghai-Suzhou-Huzhou high-speed railway, the regional railway hub operations will be further optimized. Shanghai Hongqiao and Shanghai South stations will handle 16 and 53 more trains, respectively.

Starting Jan 5, 2025, passengers traveling from Ningbo to downtown Shanghai will have the option to choose between Shanghai Hongqiao and Shanghai South as their destination.

According to Railway 12306, starting Jan 5, 2025, some trains from Ningbo, previously terminating at Shanghai Hongqiao, will terminate at Shanghai South. Despite this change, the schedules and stops of these trains will remain the same, with the journey still taking two hours.

Tickets for some trains from Ningbo to Shanghai South are already available on the official ticket booking system 12306. The final train schedules and operations will later be confirmed by railway authorities.
