An exhibition featuring ancient Qingzhou sculpture art will be unveiled at the Fuzhou Museum in Fujian province tomorrow. It will showcase the cultural elegance of the Southern and Northern Dynasties (420-581), displaying the serene smiles of Buddhist statues from over 1,000 years ago.
In 1996, over 400 Buddhist statues were unearthed from a hoard in the Longxing Temple in Qingzhou, Weifang, Shandong. Spanning from the Northern Wei Dynasty (386-534) to the Northern Song Dynasty (960-1127), these masterpieces are celebrated worldwide for their significant status in the history of Eastern art.
