Last Saturday, the Zhejiang Xiaobaihua Yueju Opera Troupe performed the restored classic Yueju Opera Xianglin's Wife at the Gengsu Theatre in Nantong, Jiangsu province. Adapted from Lu Xun's (1881-1936) novel Blessing, this tragedy depicts the life of a rural woman in China during the early 1910s, staying true to the 1978 film version's essence and design.
