Trensor Co, based in Binhu district of Wuxi, Jiangsu province, is about to build its first overseas factory in Penang, Malaysia, according to Zhou Wenbo, who is in charge of Trensor's overseas expansion.

The overseas intelligent factory is expected to produce 10 million pressure sensors per year using its flexible automatic production lines after being put into operation as early as the end of 2025.

Why choose Penang as the first stop for overseas expansion? Zhou explained that reputed as the Silicon Valley of the East, Penang boasts first-class infrastructure as well as strong semiconductor assembly and test, high-end manufacturing, and electronic and electrical industries.

He added that it is easy for them to look for supporting upstream and downstream industries.

Specializing in the R&D and production of pressure sensors, Trensor exports over 60 percent of its products to Europe and North America, and has become an important supplier of renowned overseas automotive OEMs and system integrators.

As the hub of the auto parts industry in Wuxi, Binhu has formed a whole industrial chain highlighting power systems, electronic and electrical systems, chassis drive systems, body systems, and general-purpose parts.

In the first quarter of this year, the auto parts industry in Binhu generated 1.64 billion yuan in output value, up 13.98 percent from last year.

Beginning this year, Binhu district authorities have arranged local businesses to attend exhibitions abroad, helping them expand overseas markets and obtain orders. In the first three months of 2024, Binhu's foreign trade experienced a substantial year-on-year increase of 29.1 percent to 7.1 billion yuan.
