Before performing his new piece Ancient Bells of Peking's Central Axis in Beijing earlier this month, world-renowned composer and conductor Tan Dun sat down for an exclusive talk with China Daily online show Spotlight.
The Grammy and Oscar winner believes music can pass messages to the future, and that it has the magic to connect the world. Tan said he considers his baton to be a telescope, through which he sees the heritage and the "spiritual gifts" he wishes to create for the younger generation.
