Do you wonder when Chinese people began crafting phoenix images? The jade phoenix pendant from the Neolithic period Shijiahe Culture, dating back 5-6 thousand years ago, provides some clues. This stunning artifact, with ivory-white color and a gracefully coiled form, intricately depicts a phoenix with its head and tail connected, showcasing the pinnacle of jade phoenix carving during that era.
Unearthed from Shijiahe town, Tianmen, Hubei province, in 1955, the jade pendant is now housed at the National Museum of China.
