Sijiaoping site: Disclosing Qin-era sacrificial architectures

Selected as one of China's top 10 new archaeological discoveries of 2023, the Sijiaoping site is located on an altered mountaintop (at an altitude of 1,867 meters) in Lixian county, Gansu province. The majority of the remains within the peripheral rammed earth walls consist of the foundations of multiple earthen architectural structures.

Covering approximately 28,000 square meters, the site mainly yields architectural remains, including a plethora of architectural components such as tiles and bricks.

It is the first large-scale and well-organized Qin Dynasty (221-206 BC) architectural complex discovered, representing a form of Qin sacrificial architecture.
