Chinese musical incorporates hip-hop with rap

Chinese musical East Ski will premiere this summer, featuring rapper Sun Yang, better known by his stage name Zao An, in the leading role.

East Ski tells a time travel story, spanning from ancient China to the contemporary world. It incorporates hip-hop and rap elements.

The leading performer, Zao An, is the winner of a number of hip-hop music reality shows and competitions, including the champion of the second season of Rap Star in 2021, a TV show by Mango TV.

Besides Zao An, Chinese rappers under the music label, Dream Music Group, such as Gai, Vava, and Air, who have gained a large fan base among Chinese music lovers, will play roles in the musical.

After the Beijing premiere, the musical will tour nationwide.
