On Jan 26, in Beijing, the Sino-French collaborative Chinese play Les Misérables premiered at the Beijing Poly Theatre, marking the beginning of its China tour as part of the China-France Year of Culture and Tourism. Directed by French director Jean Bellorini, the lead role of Jean Valjean is portrayed by Chinese actor Liu Ye.
