Cities on track for tourism boost

Cities along the high-speed rail that runs from Jiangxi's provincial capital Nanchang to Anhui province's Huangshan recently signed cooperation deals with major travel agencies to boost tourism. They will work together to share customers and jointly build a world-class tourism route, according to representatives at a conference that opened in Nanchang on Sunday.

The conference was jointly hosted by the Jiangxi culture and tourism department, the Nanchang government and online travel agency Trip.com Group.

Speaking about a strategic agreement signed between Nanchang and Trip.com Group, Li Hongjun, Party secretary of Nanchang, said it will further improve tourism products, optimize the tourism environment, and enhance the quality of the entire tourism chain.

According to data from Trip.com Group, traveler visits in 2023 to Jiangxi grew by 80 percent compared to 2019, and tourism revenue up by 61 percent.

Wang Xiaofan, the agency's CFO, said she believes the cooperation will continue to unlock the potential of Jiangxi's tourism resources, maximizing their value.
