Li Zhuoqun, who is the scriptwriter and director of the production, has a large fan base, especially the younger generation, thanks to her contemporary approach in telling stories in productions of traditional Chinese operas.
According to the Beijing Quju Opera Troupe, Under the Lunar Glow is the first production by the company in 2024. This March, the company will celebrate its 40th anniversary with a series of performances in Beijing.
Quju, a traditional opera, is believed to be the only local opera in Beijing which combines singing in the local dialect, as well as dancing and martial arts.
