Ginseng is an ingredient in traditional Chinese medicine and tonics. Traditional ginseng picking at Changbai Mountain in Northeast China's Jilin province dates back to the 3rd century AD.
In 2008, traditional ginseng picking at Changbai Mountain was listed by the State Council in the second group of national intangible cultural heritage items.
