The most famous member of the Eight Eccentrics Painters group of then Yangzhou city during the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), Zheng was a master who specialized in painting orchids, bamboo and stones. In addition to painting, he is also well-known for his poems and calligraphy works.

Built during the Qing Dynasty, the former residence is where he lived before becoming a successful candidate in the ancient Chinese imperial examinations.
