International Day for Biological Diversity: Making new friends

China is one of the world's most biologically diverse countries. At least 196 new traditional Chinese medicine species and 19 new amphibian and reptile species were discovered there in 2022. From a global perspective, however, biological diversity has plummeted as wild species decrease and coverage of forests and wetlands drops. To mark this year's International Day for Biological Diversity, let's preserve and protect what we have to make new friends and keep our world a vibrant, colorful place.
