The China (Sichuan) International Tea Expo has been held biannually in Chengdu since 2012, and has developed itself into the largest and most influential tea-themed event in the western part of China.

It is held in two sessions, one in spring and one in autumn.

The spring session is known as the Sichuan International Tea Expo, which aims to promote the development of a trillion-yuan tea industry, showcase Sichuan tea brands, and enhance the popularity and influence of Sichuan tea. It provides a professional and effective platform for communication and trade.

The autumn session is the Chengdu International Tea Expo, which is the only tea expo in the western region of China to have received certification from the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI). It is one of three tea expos certified by the UFI.

The 11th Sichuan International Tea Expo, which lasted for four days, concluded in Chengdu on Nov 3, 2022. The expo featured 890 exhibitors and covered an exhibition area of 70,000 square meters. According to incomplete statistics, the total transaction volume of the expo reached 1.27 billion yuan, with a total of 62,000 visitors, including 21,000 professional visitors. During the matchmaking meeting, eight companies signed contracts with a target value of 795 million yuan, setting a new record.

As a province strong in tea production, Sichuan had a tea planation area of 363,300 hectares by the end of 2018, with an output of 295,000 tons of raw tea, valued at 24.2 billion yuan. The planation area, output, and output value of tea in Sichuan province all ranked in the top three in the country, while its comprehensive strength ranked second.
