The Yellow River, the second longest river in China, originates from the Bayan Har Mountains in Qinghai province and flows from west to east through nine provinces and regions including Qinghai, Sichuan, Gansu, Ningxia, Inner Mongolia, Shaanxi, Shanxi, Henan, and Shandong provinces.
