Zhang Rong was a hereditary Han aristocrat in the Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368), whose family tombs are located in Licheng district, Jinan city, Shandong province.
Through archaeological excavations from 2021 to 2022, five brick tombs, nine stone tombs and 18 earthen cave tombs were discovered in an orderly layout. Various types of ceramics, pottery figurines, brick carvings and stone carvings have been unearthed, showcasing the tombs’ high rank and meticulous design.
Images on the brick carvings and other burial items reflect the exchange and integration of different ethnicities.
