“Shalom Shanghai, A Musical is a cross-cultural drama that emphasizes love, friendship and mutual help in times of crisis. It is a true reflection of the history of Jews and Shanghainese during the Second World War,” said Sun Huizhu, professor with Shanghai Theatre Academy, who is the scriptwriter and director of the production.
“The Japanese invasion of Shanghai was a time of conflict and hatred, but also a time of warmth and love among the oppressed,“ he added.
