Produced by the Hubei Song and Dance Theater, the opera King Zhuang of Chu was staged at the Shouyi Theater in Wuhan, Hubei province, on March 10. The production centers on King Zhuang of Chu, who was a monarch of the Zhou Dynasty State of Chu during the Spring and Autumn Period (770-476 BC).
The production was performed at the Third China Opera Festival in 2018 and gained warm response from audiences and critics.
