Lan Meng was a Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) artist born in Hangzhou. This painting by Lan imitates a previous work of the same title, Plum Blossom House of Learning, by the Northern Song Dynasty (960-1127) artist Wang Shen (1048-1104). It features green and blue mountain rocks, red trees and white plum blossoms, creating a strong color contrast and dazzling visual effect.
As a representative work of Lan Meng, this artwork is in the permanent collection of the Zhejiang Provincial Museum.
