Adapted from the award-winning novel, the drama Protagonist will greet audiences at the Qingdao Grand Theater on Sept 8 and 9. It sheds light on the great social changes in China from 1976 to 2016 through the story of Yiqin'e, a shepherd girl who rises to fame as a Qinqiang Opera actress.
The Qinqiang Opera is also known as the Bangzi Opera which is noted for its bold and unconstrained styles.
