The Three Gorges Grand Waterfall Tourist Area, known as the "most beautiful pristine canyon in the Three Gorges of the Yangtze River", is the must pass to explore the Shennongjia National Forest Park. It was inscribed as a national top-level (5A) tourist area on July 2022, and consists of three major attractions of the Three Gorges grand waterfalls, Golden Lion Cave and Lovers' Spring.

The tourist area boasts picturesque landscapes of green mountains, deep canyons, eccentric rocks, waterfalls and lush native plants. Well worth a visit, it is also a national geopark boasting karst caves and other enchanting scenery as well as fossil culture.

The streams in the canyon, running all year round, form more than 30 waterfalls in various styles. The largest create magnificent waterfall 102 meters high and 80 meters wide that resemble silvery satin curtains screening the deep gorges. The canyon’s breathtaking and majestic views never fail to fascinate every visitor.

The Three Gorges Waterfall Tourist Area is also noted for its cultural landscapes, such as the hanging coffins on the Xiaofeng Cliff, the Niejia River Fortress Site and traces of the Baren, or Ba people, an ancient tribe active in Southwest China before the Qin Dynasty (221-206 BC).
