The drama Liu Qing was staged at the Rizhao Grand Theater in Shandong province on July 17, marking its fifth national tour. It is the story of Liu Qing (1916-78), an acclaimed writer whose works depict the rural development in northwestern China. The play is produced by Xi’an Theatrical Company.
The drama also highlights the Shaanxi kuaiban, a form of Chinese traditional storytelling in the local dialect recited to the rhythm of bamboo clappers.
