The first Puju Opera Art Week kicked off in Yuncheng, Shanxi province, on July 6. Besides wonderful performances, this seven-day event will hold a series of activities such as exhibitions and conferences, treating audiences to a cultural feast with enchanting performing arts.
Prominent in the Shanxi area, the Puju Opera was formed during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) and features the singing style of Bangzi (Wooden Clapper Opera).
