Inspired by the life story of the late model oilfield worker Wang Jinxi (1923-70), the original dance drama The Iron Man was staged at the Liaoning Grand Theater on May 29. The production presented both ballet and traditional Chinese dances, as it paid tribute to the oilfield workers who contributed greatly to the development of China's petroleum industry in the 1950s. It will also compete for the Wenhua Award this year, the highest official award for the performing arts in China.
