The historical drama Cai Wenji is being presented at the Beijing People’s Art Theater from April 19 to May 3. The drama is about the life story of Cai Yan, whose courtesy name is Wenji, a great female literary writer in the late Eastern Han Dynasty (25-220). The production by renowned writer Guo Moruo (1892-1978) is noted for its poetic style and Chinese traditional aesthetics.
