The dance drama Five Stars Rise in the East will be staged at the Shandong Grand Theater on Feb 26 and 27. Centering on the precious brocade armband unearthed in Xinjiang, it depicts a glorious cultural epic between the Central Plain and the Western Regions in the Han Dynasty (206 BC-AD 220).
The armband was excavated at the Niya ruins and originated in the Eastern Han (25–220 AD) to Western Jin (265–316 AD). It was embroidered with the words “Five stars rise in the east, indicating victory for China”.
