Paigu (a set of three to seven tuned drums), also called the Chinese Fishing Drum, is inventively crafted to have a uniquely sonorous sound. Coming in different shapes and sizes, it can produce sounds from both above and below. With the development of the traditional Chinese musical instrument, there is now a variety of paigu in the market.
In this session, percussionists Tong Shengyuan and Feng Lu from China National Opera and Dance Drama Theater demonstrate the five-tone paigu. Check it out!
