Based on the life story of Wu Zetian (r. 690-705), the only female emperor in feudal China, the eponymous drama was staged at the Tianjin Grand Hall on Dec 24. It starred renowned actress Liu Xiaoqing who has played Wu on several TV series.
The performance also marked the 10th anniversary of Liu playing dramatic roles.
