Adapted from The Peach Blossom Fan by Kong Shangren (1648-1718), a great dramatist of the early Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), a Kunqu Opera production The Peach Blossom Fan of 1699 will be staged at the Shanghai Oriental Art Center on Mar 18 and 19, 2022. It depicts the tragic love between Li Xiangjun and Hou Fangyu during the great social changes at the transition from the Ming to the Qing dynasties.
