Based on the life story of Huang Wenxiu, a late village official who dedicated her life to poverty alleviation, a Zhuangju Opera work named after her was performed at the 17th China Theater Festival in Wuhan, Hubei province, on Oct 22.
Listed as a form of national intangible cultural heritage in China, Zhuangju Opera is popular among the Zhuang people in the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region and Yunnan province.
