"I was delighted to discover so much of the older Suzhou was still there and just as beautiful as I remembered," said Bruce Connolly, an experienced photographer from Scotland who visited Suzhou years ago.
The historic villages visited are a photographer's dream, Connolly said. "It is very positive that such areas have been preserved - popular with tourists but also home to many local people with families going back generations in the area."
