Let’s look at a gorgeous treasure of the Hunan Museum! Unearthed from Lady Xin Zhui’s tomb at Mawangdui in Changsha, Hunan province, in 1972, the T-shaped silk painting from the Western Han Dynasty (206 BC-AD 24) was a banner carried at the front in the funeral procession, and it was then laid on the innermost coffin at the burial.
With a length of 2.05 meters, it adopted ink drawing and heavy-colored drawing techniques to reveal the heavenly world as the ancient people imagined it, as well as their romantic view of the quest for eternal life.
