Laiwu bangzi, also known as Laiwu wooden clapper or Laiwu ballad, is a traditional opera type that originates from Laiwu district, Jinan, Shandong province and also a national intangible cultural heritage item. The opera shows the straightforward and strong character of the people in the Mount Tai and Yimeng Mountain areas. It is very popular in Laiwu district and surrounding areas of Shandong province.
