Shangjing city was one of the five capitals of the Liao Empire (916-1125) in Chinese history, and the location of the tomb of Liao's founding emperor.
Located to the west of the Liao Shangjing Ruins Site in Lindong town, Baarin Left Banner , Inner Mongolia autonomous region, the Liao Shangjing Museum focuses on the Khitan Liao culture and houses 113,885 cultural relics, including 57 national first-class artifacts.
