The Zhejiang Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism recently published a five-year action plan (2021-25) on the development of the culture and tourism sectors that contribute to the province's common prosperity drive.
One highlight of the plan is the reform of the province's museums.
Zhejiang authorities will push forward market reforms for public museums and encourage private institutions to cooperate in the hosting of exhibitions, spreading knowledge, and developing creative cultural products.
Revenue gained from these activities is allowed to be used by the museums to collect new exhibits, expand business, and reward employees.
Zhejiang authorities have also set goals of having one world-class museum, 10 domestically leading museums, 100 national-level museums, and 1,000 museums in rural area across the province by 2025.
