One of most archetypal handicrafts of the Kazak ethnic group, this embroidery is widely used to adorn clothes, shoes, hats and scarves. Rugs, in particular, are often elaborately embroidered. The patterns are usually imaginative and feature strong color contrasts. Images of animals like cattle, sheep and deer boast thick lines, symbolizing the forthright personalities of the herdsmen and the fresh pastoral lifestyle.
