Shaanxi History Museum: Traditional Chinese folding fan
A folding fan is a "cool" travel accessory in hot weather as it’s easy to carry and needs no electricity. The Shaanxi History Museum recently rolled out a traditional Chinese folding fan with the motif of the mythical bird luan. The design was inspired by an item in the museum’s collection, a mirror with four gold mythical birds symbolizing happiness and a better life. Against a background color of sapphire blue, the folding fan exudes a graceful and noble charm.

In recent years, the National Museum of China in Beijing has designed a series of practical cultural and creative products, of which an umbrella is the most popular. Its motif with 28 constellations and 1,434 stars is drawn from one of the museums’ artifacts: an astronomy-based stele rubbing from the Song Dynasty (960-1279). What a gorgeous umbrella!
