Adapted from the eponymous drama of modern Chinese literary giant Lao She (1899-1966), the Quju Opera work Longxu Ditch will be staged at the National Center for the Performing Arts in Beijing from Mar 16-17. It depicts the great life changes of four families in a slum from the 1940s to the 1950s.
Unique to the Beijing area, the Quju Opera highlights the local language features and danxian music (storytelling to musical accompaniment).
