The bamboo industry is now booming in Chishui, Southwest China's Guizhou province, which has a total bamboo forest area of 88,533 hectares. The bamboo is mainly used for producing items such as chopsticks, sticks, flooring and household paper, which helps 180,000 farmers increase their average annual income by more than 4,000 yuan ($618).
