List of major Great Wall sections released

The National Cultural Heritage Administration released its first list of major national-level sections of the Great Wall on last Thursday, which included four ruins from the Tang Dynasty (618-907) in the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region. [Photo provided to chinadaily.com.cn]

Four of the ruins are located in Xinjiang, which not only functioned as military garrisons but also transportation hubs. Paper documents, wooden structures and other excavations have been unearthed.
