The regional gross domestic product (GDP) of Southwest China's Chongqing municipality expanded by 0.8 percent year-on-year to 1.12 trillion yuan ($160 billion) in the first half of this year, local authorities said Tuesday.
The value-added output of the secondary industry rose by 0.9 percent year-on-year to 440.8 billion yuan in H1, while that of the tertiary industry witnessed a 0.5-percent year-on-year growth to 619.2 billion yuan in the same period, said Luo Lin, deputy secretary-general of the Chongqing municipal government.
The value-added output of the high-tech manufacturing sector recorded a year-on-year growth of 8 percent in H1, and the output of the strategic emerging manufacturing sector saw a growth of 7.7 percent year-on-year, he said.
The investment in information transmission and IT service sector, which covers industries including 5G, data center and industrial internet, surged by 1.6 times, while that in the high-tech sector rose by 16.2 percent year-on-year in H1.
Luo said the city has gradually overcome the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic in H1 and shown a steady economic rebound with stronger resilience and vitality.
