Nanjing displays heroes on posters above city gates for Qingming

East China’s Nanjing city is hanging large posters on three of its city gates to commemorate heroes who sacrificed their lives to liberate the country during wartime and helped others in peacetime. [Photos provided by Nanjing Photography Team]

The poster hung on the Zhonghuamen gate photos of heroes who died for China’s liberation. Only 1,519 heroes were known by name and 144 black and white photos of them were available.

The posters will remain on the three gates until April 10.
