Deng Xiaoping (1904-1997), the great leader that enlightened China’s way toward economic strength and prosperity, is acclaimed as the Chief Designer of China’s reform and opening-up. To commemorate Deng, a memorial to him has been established in his hometown.

With the Reform and Opening-up Policy proposed by Deng, China began actively trading with other countries, attracting overseas capital, technologies and management expertise. The principle of “One country, Two systems” proposed by Deng led the successful return of Hong Kong to China in 1997.
The memorial museum of Deng has a building area of about 833.4 square meters, encompassing the old houses, a statue of Deng Xiaoping, the Dezheng Place, the Cultural relics Exhibition Hall, and the Hanlin Yard. Totally it has collected 408 pictures, 170 cultural relics and more than 200 documents related to Deng. The collections vividly show his life-long devotion to Chinese revolution, construction and reform.

The job card of Deng Xiaoping of his stay in France in 1921, Deng’s seals of 1950s, a cowboy hat from an American friend during his visit to the United States in 1979, the parade car of the 35th anniversary of National Day in 1984, and many other cultural relics that bear witness to important historical moments involving the great leader are exhibited in the museum.
