Nantong's foreign investment enterprises mainly come through Hong Kong, or from Japan, Taiwan, the United States and Europe. Over the years, they have played an important role in the economic and social development of Nantong, providing over 600,000 local jobs. The actual utilization of foreign investment since 2012 in the city has reached $11.54 billion.
