Wan'er cake 碗儿糕 Wan er gao

Wan'er cake takes its name from its resemblance to a little bowl and an ear ('er'). It is a popular treat for children, therefore also referred to as "wa'er" (Chinese for 'child') cake. Wan'er cakes appeared and grew in popularity in the 1980s. The cakes are often snowy white made from rice or red-violet or blackish made from broomcorn and buckwheat.
