The e-commerce industrial aggregation is making positive impact in Guangzhou city. To improve this impact, the city has promoted the construction of infrastructure in e-commerce gathering areas, built more public service platforms, introduced more enterprises' investment and provided comprehensive services, such as sharing information and organizing promotion, training and exchange activities. The Huadihe e-commerce industrial cluster in Liwan district was designated as an e-commerce demonstration base by the Ministry of Commerce in 2015. Another e-commerce demonstration in Guangzhou is Zhuangyuan Valley in Huangpu district.

Guangzhou has stepped up pace to base e-commerce and internet headquarters projects in Pazhou Internet and Innovation Cluster Zone. Fourteen enterprises, including Tencent, Alibaba, Shanghai Fosun Pharmaceutical, Gome, Vipshop and Global Market, set up 23 regional headquarters and project companies in Pazhou. Their total registered capital is 10.9 billion yuan ($1.66 billion). Among the 23 companies, 15 have a registered capital of over 100 million yuan and six of over 1 billion yuan. Based on the industrial characters and advantages of each district, the city set up featured industrial bases, developed e-commerce platforms, e-commerce logistics bases and special industrial platforms. Up to 2015, Guangzhou has 31 e-commerce parks and 11 cross-border e-commerce parks whose investment is over 50 million yuan.

In 2015, the trading volume of e-commerce business in Guangzhou exceeded 1.5 trillion yuan, accounting for half of the total amount of Guangdong province. The annual transaction volume was 1.95 billion pieces, dealing 5.3 billion pieces daily, ranking first in the country. The annual online turnover of wholesale and retail trade was 57.69 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 61.6 percent. According to a report released by Aliresearch in 2015, Guangzhou topped the list of online business entrepreneurship in the country based on the amount of online orders and sales which it ranked top in the country. The city has 13 listed e-commerce enterprises, such as Vipshop, Global Market, YY and GOMO.

The city has 58 Guangdong provincial e-commerce demonstration enterprises (accounting for 36.71 percent of the province), 12 provincial e-commerce demonstration bases (accounting for 23.53 percent), both ranking first in the country.
